This area of study explores health communication in the age of digital and scientific advancement. Courses cover traditional health communication areas (e.g., provider and patient interaction, risk communication, health campaigns) and are designed with the most recent advances in healthcare and technology in mind. Principles of health communication are applied and examined in the context of their impact on patient safety, individual and population health outcomes. 

Students that focus their studies in this area often pursue careers in health care, social work, mental health, human resources, and nonprofit management.
