Monita Chatterjee is interested in mechanisms underlying auditory and speech perception by individuals who have hearing loss and use cochlear implants to hear. A specific area of interest is voice pitch perception by cochlear implant patients and consequences for emotional prosody (both perception and production). Working with patients across the lifespan, her research asks interesting and impactful questions about experience-driven changes in school-age children, aging effects in adults, and the influence of cognitive function on outcomes.
