IPTD Journal Caucus
The IPTD Journal Caucus is an informal gathering of doctoral candidates from IPTD and invited students from related disciplines (e.g. English, Performance Studies) who have advanced to candidacy. The goal of the caucus is to ensure that doctoral candidates remain informed about current research in drama, theatre, and performance studies, and know the avenues for publishing their work. We meet fortnightly during fall, winter, and spring quarters to discuss a selected article from a recent journal publication. A designated student presenter leads the discussion each meeting. We debate the relative merits of the article in question and assess its contribution to existing scholarship and to the "state of the field."
IPTD regularly presents a series of professional workshops which prepare students for future careers in academia. Topics include job searching and interviewing, publishing, archival research, writing fellowship and grant proposals, making successful conference applications, and Institutional Review Board procedures. These workshops are often offered in partnership with doctoral programs in Performance Studies and the Critical Studies in Theatre and Performance cluster.
