Justin Zullo is a lecturer and academic advisor in the Department of Theatre. His professional work focuses on hip-hop culture, community performance, juvenile justice, and grassroots movements. He has designed sound for theatre productions and art installations nationally in such venues as the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Greenhouse Theater Center, and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. His scholarship and audio works have been published in St. James Encyclopedia and online at Third Coast International Audio Festival. Justin has taught a range of topics including music philosophy, performance of literature, hip-hop culture, human beatboxing techniques, and digital music production at diverse institutions, including the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center, The Field Museum, and Columbia College. Currently, he is the Assistant Director of the community opera, Pan, and the Technical Director of the Chicago Hip Hop Theater Festival.
