Harold Gulley is an academic advisor for undergraduate students who choose the communication studies major within the School of Communication. He works with students to help them plan their degree programs, advising them on course work, related majors and minors, certificate programs, study abroad opportunities, and internships. He is an expert in geography, and his interest in communication focuses on how cartography and geographic information science are used to illustrate spatial patterns and influence public perceptions. He has published journal articles about the history of cartography, public commemoration, economic development, and popular culture.
