The Office of External Programs, Internships, & Career Services (EPICS) supports current students in our MFA, Writing for Screen & Stage program. A wide range of information regarding our services is below.

Students enrolled in the MFA, Writing for Screen & Stage program have access to 1:1 career coaching with EPICS. Coaching appointments topics include resume/cover letter reviews, internship/job search strategy, offer-negotiation coaching and more.
Students can request an appointment with EPICS via SoConnect. Once logged in, click on the Coaching icon followed by the “Coaching Appointment” link to find available coaching appointments with an EPICS Career Coach. If no appointments are available, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will get back to you with further options.
Beyond EPICS, Northwestern Career Advancement (NCA) is also available to offer career advising and other career-related services.
An important component of the MFA, Writing for Screen & Stage program is the internship requirement. This requirement provides students with practical experience and industry exposure while giving them the opportunity to integrate the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom into real world situations. It also serves as preparation for the experience of finding work in the profession after graduation and is an effective means of establishing professional career connections.

EPICS facilitates internships through career coaching services with MFA students and developing opportunities within a wide network of employers in Chicago, New York City, and Los Angeles among other locations.
